Only about 5 percent of the energy required to produce the primary metal initially is needed in the recycling process. The recycled content for steel used in metal roofing and metal siding is at least 25. This level of recycled content reduces both the cost and environmental impact of making new steel as it conserves energy and other natural raw materials. The steel used contains a minimum of 30 recycled content and are 100 recyclable at the end of their long lifespan.

Consider the fact that steel can be recycled continuously without losing performance and is therefore much less likely to wind up in a landfill when compared to other roofing materials. A very small percentage of asphalt shingles are ever recycled. I have not been able to find a manufacturer that sells something with this specification. There are several styles of metal roofing to choose from.

Metal roofing has a 25 recycled content in new roofing. The re melting of aluminum requires little energy. Can be made into cool roofing. In addition to being much lighter and stronger than traditional roofing materials steel roofing systems offer a wide variety of shapes and colors allowing them to resemble different styles and materials.
